About
Kaitlyn Farmer LMHC
Hi, I'm Kaitlyn! I work with children ages 10 and up, adolescents, and adults, and I believe therapy is a team effort. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and accepted while also encouraging you to challenge yourself and grow. I know that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so I strive to build a genuine connection where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. Whether you're working through anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, or just feeling stuck, I'll meet you where you are and help you build the tools and confidence to move forward. When working with children and adolescents, I also believe in partnering with parents. While respecting your child's privacy and creating a space where they feel safe to open up, I make it a priority to keep parents involved so you feel informed, supported, and never left in the dark throughout the therapeutic process.
Originally from Tennessee, I moved to Florida after graduate school and have loved being here ever since. When I'm not in the office, you'll usually find me traveling, spending time with friends, or enjoying the outdoors. Staying active is a big part of how I recharge, whether that's at the gym, playing volleyball, surfing, or hiking. My Boston Terrier, Choppa, is always on a new adventure with me whether it is on the boat or hiking a new trail. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can be yourself, feel supported, and leave each session with something meaningful to take into your everyday life. I look forward to helping you navigate life's challenges and celebrate your growth along the way.

Experience
I am a licensed mental health counselor
I am fully licensed in FL.
Working in different settings of mental health such as inpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs, and community mental health has allowed me to support adolescents and adults through many different stages of their mental health journey. From helping clients navigate difficult moments to building long-term coping skills, these experiences have reinforced the importance of meeting each person where they are. With my background in Child Development, I also value the importance of connecting with children in ways that feel natural and comfortable for them. For younger clients, I incorporate play-based approaches to help children express their emotions, build coping skills, and feel safe while working through challenges. I also have extensive experience working with military service members, veterans, and their families. Through this work, I've gained an appreciation for the unique stressors that can come with military life, including transitions, relationship challenges, and the demands of balancing multiple roles.
Education:
I earned my bachelor's degree in Child Development from the University of Memphis and my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee. My education and clinical training have allowed me to work with clients across different levels of care and develop a well-rounded approach to supporting my client's through life's challenges.
My Approach:
I believe therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Every person comes in with different experiences, strengths, and goals, so I tailor therapy to fit what works best for you. Together, we'll focus on what's most important to you and create a plan that helps you move toward the changes you want to make. My approach is person-centered and draws from Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior Therapy approaches. I enjoy helping clients better understand themselves while building practical skills they can use in everyday life. I commonly work with anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, life transitions, and stress management. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest, ask questions, and even laugh a little. Some sessions may be emotional, while others may leave you smiling. These can both be part of the process. I'll support you every step of the way, but I'll also challenge you when needed because growth often happens just outside of our comfort zone. My hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, encouraged, and a little more confident than when you walked in.
